The historical Galician exhibition for fisheries and aquaculture, Conxemar 2016, has been held this year in Vigo from 4 to 6 October, and as always we have prepared our stand presenting some of our best products. The fair is a meeting point in one of the most important fishing ports in Europe. Conxemar is one of the most important events for the aquaculture sector and the marketing of molluscs and fish products, both fresh and frozen.

During the three days of the fair we had the opportunity to define the most interesting growth opportunities for the Spanish mussel farming industry, and we met some very interesting international companies looking for solutions for efficiently weighing and packaging frozen fish. Taking advantage of the opportunity to see and talk to the main players in the fishing industry, we also helped our customers to wade through the sometimes intricate web of the new European rules for the labeling of live molluscs.

Among other innovations on display, the drum brushing machine especially designed for clams undoubtedly caught attention: the ability to clean the product and to be able to open the shells filled with sand are key issues for large companies that work with clams of the genres Venerupis, Tapes and Ruditapes. The filter for process water recovery and recirculation has also made his debut at the fair: it is an innovation designed specifically for our processing machines, which allows our customers to save thousands of Euros per year. All the equipment on display were delivered to our Spanish and British clients at the end of the event.

The eighteenth edition of the fair has broken all records by closing with an attendance of 30,020 visitors from 106 countries around the world, with a growth of 10% compared to the event which took place in 2015. Exhibitors and international professionals with a major presence from Portugal, Italy, France, Holland and Greece participated at Conxemar 2016, and a significant increase of stakeholders in the fishing industry and packaging of shellfish from Asian countries has been registered.
